The IMMiNTE (Integration of Migrants in the Tourism and Hospitality Sector in the EU) project continues to make significant progress in supporting the social and professional integration of migrants within the European tourism and hospitality industry. The initiative aims to address labour shortages and skills mismatches by developing innovative vocational education and training (VET) opportunities tailored to the needs of migrants and employers alike.
In June 2026, project partners gathered in Thessaloniki, Greece, for a transnational meeting hosted by OECON. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the project’s progress, exchange experiences, and plan the next stages of implementation, further strengthening cooperation among partners from Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
At the same time, partner organisations are conducting national focus groups involving migrants working in tourism and hospitality, industry professionals, NGO representatives, and VET providers. These sessions aim to validate the findings of national needs assessments and labour market analyses while identifying key challenges, opportunities, and skills requirements across participating countries.
The first focus groups have already been successfully completed in Spain, Sweden, and Portugal, generating valuable insights that will contribute to the development of high-quality training resources and learning programmes. The results will help ensure that the project’s future outputs are practical, relevant, and aligned with current labour market needs.
Through collaboration, research, and stakeholder engagement, IMMiNTE is helping to build a more inclusive tourism and hospitality sector across Europe, creating better employment opportunities for migrants while addressing workforce demands within the industry.
