Maria Kyparissia Vaiou shares her experience of participating in Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs

Maria Kyparissia Vaiou traveled to Cyprus for six months as a New Entrepreneur in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program and is sharing her experience with you:

”My participation in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme was a deliberate and strategic decision, aimed at expanding my professional skill set and transferring knowledge from the fields of marketing and data analysis to the financial and accounting services sector, in which I intend to establish my own business in the near future.

During the programme, I worked in a marketing company where, drawing on my academic background as a mathematician, I was actively involved in data analysis, statistical processing, and the evaluation of digital advertising campaign performance.

In particular, I worked with tools such as Google Ads, monitoring key performance indicators, advertising costs, conversion rates, and overall return on investment (ROI), which enabled me to develop a thorough understanding of how financial data directly influence strategic decision-making and business sustainability.

Through this experience, I adopted a holistic approach to business analysis, linking financial metrics with marketing effectiveness, customer acquisition, and overall business strategy.

At the same time, my daily collaboration with experienced professionals allowed me to gain valuable insight into the role of data-driven analysis not only in marketing activities, but also in financial planning, cost control, and revenue forecasting—core components of a modern financial and accounting consultancy.

This experience enhanced my ability to interpret data as a strategic tool, supporting the transition from traditional accounting practices to advisory services focused on performance optimisation and profitability improvement. I intend to directly integrate these competencies into the establishment of my own financial and accounting consulting firm, offering services that go beyond standard bookkeeping and compliance, and instead focus on data analysis, financial control, investment evaluation, and strategic decision support, particularly tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme provided substantial and long-term benefits, including the transfer of know-how from experienced entrepreneurs, exposure to different business models and markets, and a deeper understanding of operating within an international and European business environment. Furthermore, the programme significantly strengthened my entrepreneurial mindset, enhanced my confidence in taking initiative, and contributed to the development of a clear, realistic, and sustainable business vision.

Overall, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs constituted a decisive step in my professional development and a solid foundation for the creation of a competitive, innovative, and sustainable financial and accounting services enterprise”.
