A new era in textile waste management | SiT
The textile sector is entering a new phase, with science driving real change. Innovative technologies are reshaping the traditional “produce–use–discard” model and moving the industry toward circularity.
Some of the key developments already shaping the future:
– Chemical recycling that converts polyester into high-quality raw material
– Hyperspectral sorting for rapid fiber identification
– Enzyme-based solutions that break down natural fibers like cotton and wool
– Digital product passports enabling full traceability
– Advanced mechanical recycling producing stronger fibers
Through the webinars of the European project SiT (Sustainability in TCLF), these developments are highlighted while practical knowledge is provided on how to implement them, actively supporting the transition toward a more circular and sustainable industry.
