Tourism & Hospitality: Challenges and Opportunities | GreenHost

Tourism is a cornerstone of the Greek economy, contributing 12.7% of GDP (€30.2 billion, 2024).

The GreenHost project analysis highlights key structural challenges in the sector:

– Limited digital transformation of SMEs, with low adoption of AI, data analytics, and smart tourism platforms
– Insufficient green and sustainability skills, despite growing consumer demand
– Underdeveloped soft skills and social innovation within vocational education
– Low sector attractiveness due to low wages, seasonality, and high turnover, resulting in 53,000 job vacancies in 2023
